Designing products led me to a bigger question: how should humans interact with intelligent systems?

Introduction

I’m a Senior Product Designer with 7+ years of experience designing digital products and complex user experiences across different industries and markets.

My work has evolved from visual and interface design into product thinking, UX research, and the design of complex digital systems. Today, I’m extending that experience into AI Product Design and Human-AI Interaction—exploring how intelligent systems can become useful, understandable, and trustworthy parts of people’s everyday and professional experiences.

My Journey

From designing interfaces to exploring intelligent interactions

My journey in design began with visual and interface design, where I developed a strong foundation in visual communication, interaction, and digital experiences.

Over time, my focus shifted from how products look to how they work—and, more importantly, why people behave the way they do when using them.

Working on digital products across different industries introduced me to increasingly complex problems involving workflows, decision-making, user behavior, business requirements, and system constraints. This gradually moved my practice toward Product Design, where research and product thinking became as important as the interface itself.

Today, AI is introducing another fundamental shift.

Products are no longer always passive systems waiting for users to give them commands. They can recommend, generate, predict, interpret, and increasingly act on behalf of people.

That change has led me to a new set of questions:

  • How should people understand AI decisions?
  • When should they trust an AI recommendation?
  • How much control should users retain?
  • And how can we design intelligent systems that support human judgment rather than replace it?

These questions are now shaping both my design practice and my growing interest in Human-AI Interaction.

What I Focus on Today

Product Design

I design digital products by connecting user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. My work spans UX research, interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, usability evaluation, and product thinking.

Human-AI Interaction

I’m particularly interested in what happens when users interact with systems that can generate content, make recommendations, communicate uncertainty, and participate in decision-making.

AI Product Design

I’m exploring how AI capabilities such as recommendation, generation, prediction, and intelligent assistance can be translated into meaningful product experiences.
My current interests include trust, explainability, human control, AI-assisted decision-making, and human-AI collaboration.

Research Direction

Exploring Human-AI Interaction

My research interests focus on how people understand, trust, and collaborate with AI systems, particularly within professional and decision-making contexts.

I’m interested in studying the behavioral and design questions that emerge when AI becomes an active participant in people’s workflows rather than simply another software feature.

Research Interests

  • Human-AI Interaction
  • Trust in AI
  • Human-Centered AI
  • Explainability & Transparency
  • Human Control & Agency

Building design connections in Muscat

Local Leader — Interaction Design Foundation, Muscat

Beyond my product work, I’m involved in building and supporting the design community in Muscat.

As a Local Leader of the Interaction Design Foundation community in Muscat, I help create opportunities for designers and professionals to connect, exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from one another.

I see professional communities as an important bridge between individual practice and collective learning—especially as design continues to evolve alongside emerging technologies such as AI.

What I’m Working Toward

Bridging Product Design and Human-AI Interaction

The next chapter of my work sits at the intersection of Product Design, Artificial Intelligence, and Human-AI Interaction.

I want to better understand how intelligent systems influence human trust, judgment, behavior, and decision-making—and how those insights can lead to better products.

My long-term goal is to bridge product design practice and Human-AI Interaction research: turning research insights into better intelligent products, and real-world product challenges into meaningful research questions.

Beyond Design

Creativity has always been part of my work

Before digital product design became the center of my professional practice, visual art and painting played an important role in developing how I observe, communicate, and think creatively.

That background continues to influence my sensitivity to composition, visual communication, and storytelling—but today, creativity for me extends beyond aesthetics.

It is increasingly about asking better questions, understanding complex problems, and exploring different ways technology can support human capabilities.
